This is a big topic. Bullying is so pervasive in schools now, especially with girls. My daughter is a bit younger than yours and just now hitting the stage when this comes up.

Fortunately, there appear to be many good books on the subject. Some books that are highly recommended (I just ordered them but haven't read them yet):
-Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls
-Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques,
Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence

One interesting article I saw online was unique (at least I thought so) because it focused more on the role of the bystanders than the victims, teaching the buystanders not to be passive: http://www.greatschools.net/cgi-bin/showarticle/1098?cpn=20080709pa1
